Log Yard
General Safety Guidelines
1. In the event of an emergency, call 911.
2. Toilet facilities are provided for your convenience, please use them.
3. Driver trainees/riders are permitted in the yard. Make other arrangements for unauthorized passengers.
4. Pets must remain in the truck.
5. Smoking is not permitted.
6. Hi-Vis orange hard hats and vests are required.
7. Speed 10 m.p.h.; signal your intentions to turn.
8. Exercise care while getting in or out of the cab. Use a 3-point stance to prevent slips and falls.
9. Report unsafe conditions to the scales.
10. Report all accidents or near miss incidents to the scales.
11. Drugs and alcohol are not permitted.
12. Anticipate uneven and slippery surfaces and wear appropriate footwear for conditions.
13. Logs must be loaded according to Federal, State and Local regulations.
• Loading Specifications
a. Maximum load height 14'6".
b. All outside and top logs should extend a minimum of 12"beyond front and rear bunks.c. Top bunk logs must not extend 1/2 diameter above top of bunks/extensions.
d. Loads must be pyramided (cradled) for stability,
e. Minimum of two wrappers per load, and one wrapper on each end of exposed top logs.
14. All wrappers must be tight against the load when crossing scales.
15. Do not remove any wrappers until positioned at unloading point.
16. Make radio contact with the unloader operator.
17. Observe the load from a safe distance to ensure load stability.
18. Wait for the load to be secured.
19. When instructed by unloader operator, remove wrappers.
20. Move away facing the load and stand next to front bumper, in clear view of the unloader operator.
21. Do not move your truck or walk alongside load once a wrapper is released.
22. Notify the unloader operator if it becomes necessary to go to the passenger side of the load.
